Originally this regatta was going to be held in the Black Rock Canal, by the West Side Rowing Club; however, due to the old weather, the location was changed to the hosting crew’s plan B. It was a different course where groups of heats rowed up to the start and race down the three lane course one after the other. The change in venue also led to the scratch of the pairs events as the 2k course on the creek was winding down from the start, which began with a turn. That first wide turn also led officials to begin the floating start, staggered between lanes.
